Message from Chair
Hello from the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC), and welcome to the winter edition of our newsletter.
Specific Populations Project
The GPMHSC is hard at work on this project, developing resources for specific populations to help GPs provide the best care to these groups. These working group meetings have been very productive thus far and we are nearing completion of the current phase of the project. The resources will include a variety of topics relating to each topic, such as the crucial relevance of the kinship system in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations, and the importance of continued support for our veterans. We are excited to share updates with GPs once the resources become available.
IAR-DST
You may have noticed the GPMHSC recently started to advertise the Initial Assessment and Referral Decision Support Tool, including at GPCE Melbourne in July. You can find more information about the IAR-DST here. The IAR can be a useful tool for early GPs looking to reinforce their referral confidence.
GPMHSC at GPCE
GPMHSC recently attended GPCE in both Sydney & Melbourne. We enjoyed speaking with all the GPs and other practice staff at both events and we look forward to connecting further at future events later this year, including RMA25 in Perth and GP25 in Brisbane.
