GPs are often the first point of contact for patients experiencing a mental illness. it is essential that GPs have the necessary skills and knowledge to address patients’ mental health needs. The training accredited by the GPMHSC provides the fundamental skills required to assess a patient’s needs, recommend appropriate referral options and manage a patient’s ongoing mental healthcare.

2. Once re-directed to the RACGP CPD webpage, click Browse
3. Scroll down to the Specfic Requirements drop-down on the left column
4. Select the type of training (e.g. Mental health skills training, Focussed psychological strategy skills training, etc.)
5. Click 'View Activity' on the activity you would like to undertake

Mental Health Skills Training

Accredited MHST activities provide GPs with the skills and knowledge to assess, treat, plan and review common mental health illnesses.

The GPMHSC can exempt GPs from completing the requirements for obtaining MHST and/or FPS ST accreditation.
