Message from Chair

Hello from the General Practice Mental Health Standards Collaboration (GPMHSC), and welcome to the summer edition of our newsletter.

The GPMHSC Says Farewell to Long-standing Committee Member

The end of 2025 saw Dr Eleanor Chew, a long-standing member of the GPMHSC Committee, conclude her service to the GPMHSC after 14 years.

Dr Chew served on the Committee from April 2011 to October 2025, providing invaluable insight and expertise throughout her service.

On behalf of the whole Committee, I would like to extend our tremendous gratitude and appreciation for Eleanor’s contributions to the GPMHSC.

Productivity Commission Report on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement

The Productivity Commission was asked to conduct the final review of the National Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Agreement.

The review found the Agreement is not effective and a new policy architecture is needed to articulate the collective actions that will deliver changes to the mental health and suicide prevention system and improve outcomes.

You can find more information about the report here.
